McGranahan Architects has a long history of civic projects, many of which have become community landmarks such as the Tacoma Dome. Completed in 1993, the Department of Ecology Headquarters in Lacey, Washington, was an early standard in the development of sustainable design practices. The DOE Headquarters building was recently awarded a retroactive LEED Silver Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council in recognition of its groundbreaking status. Other civic projects include libraries, community centers, transportation facilities, and municipal projects.
