Health Sciences Facility

Health Sciences Facility

Client: Clover Park Technical College
Size: 55,232 sf
Location: Lakewood, WA

The new Health Sciences Facility will accommodate CPTC's rapidly growing health care programs including Nursing, Hemodialysis, Histology, Materiel Management/CS, Surgical Technology, Medical Assistant, Medical Lab Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Speech Therapy Assistant and Pediatric Counseling. The spaces and programs support academic study, technical investigation and vocational preparation. Many of the building spaces emulate medical industry uses as well as providing numerous social and informal study areas to develop the teamwork and interpersonal skills that model the balance of the medical professional. The building program is articulated through the use of two wings. One wing houses the general classrooms and teaching labs, spaces that will be shared by other programs, and the second wing is exclusively for the core allied health programs. The curriculum and building are integrated holistically and conceptually through elements such as the medicinal herb gardens and sustainability display. The project is designed to meet LEED Silver Certification.
